Top LG V20 Tips and Tricks for Maximum Enjoyment

Top LG V20 Tips and Tricks for Maximum Enjoyment

February 28, 2023 By Khadija Sohail Leave a Comment

LG has packed the V20 with plenty of useful features that should make it a pleasure to use. However, there are a few things that might be a bit too much for some users.

For example, the V20 isn’t water resistant, and the navigation buttons are split up like on the LG G5. Fortunately, there are some LG V20 tips and tricks that can make this smartphone a more comfortable experience for users.

1. Turn on Mini Mode

The LG V20 is an incredible device that can do a lot of great things, but it also has its share of issues. If you have one of these phones, there are some tips and tricks that you can use to get the most out of it and maximize your enjoyment.

The first is to enable Mini Mode on your V20, which makes it a little easier to use the phone with just one hand. To enable it, head into Settings > Display and toggle on the Mini View option. Then, just swipe across the navigation bar to shrink your screen and a handle at the top will allow you to change the size of the shrunken window.

You can then open another app in this new window with a single tap. This is a really handy feature for multi-taskers who love to work with multiple apps at the same time.

To make your V20 more comfortable to hold, you can rearrange the navigation buttons to your liking. You can switch from a “Back-Home-Recents” layout to a more traditional “Home-Recents-Back”.

If you find that the buttons are too close together, you can also rearrange them by clicking and dragging. This will make them more spaced out and give you better control of the buttons on your LG V20.

Likewise, you can move the notification panel up or down on your LG V20 by pressing and holding it. This is handy for when you want to quickly check the weather or a recent email without opening the notifications.

The LG V20 is one of the first Android devices to have Google In Apps, which lets you search the web for information inside your apps. For example, you can search for a friend’s name and pull up a message they recently sent or an email they’re sharing. This will help you find exactly what you need and save time.

2. Rearrange the Navigation Buttons

The LG V20 is a large phone, so it’s worth knowing how to rearrange the navigation buttons for maximum comfort. This can include adding a fourth button or changing the order of Back, Home and Recents.

To do so, head to Settings > Display and select the option “Home Touch Buttons.” Next, tap “Button combination,” then choose what you want to change from there. You can rearrange the buttons, add a third button or change the color of them.

In addition to rearranging the buttons, you can also hide them when you don’t want them active on the screen. This can be useful when you’re capturing a screenshot.

Alternatively, you can turn on a “Mini view” mode that shrinks the contents of the screen so that you can easily hold it in one hand. This mode requires that you swipe the navigation bar in the desired direction, and it’s actually quite easy to use.

Another cool customization feature is the ability to set up “smart settings” that automate various functions on the device. You can set up things like the sound profile when you arrive home or the WiFi or Bluetooth on/off timer before leaving the house.

While some might consider these features to be gimmicky, they’re actually pretty useful and can save you a lot of time. All you need to do is enable a few options in Smart settings, then your phone will automatically switch these off and on whenever needed.

LG’s focus on functionality really pays off here, as the V20 has a number of useful custom tweaks that you can use to enhance your experience. For example, you can adjust the color of the navigation bar and hide it based on which app is opened. You can even set up a custom button to launch Slide, a multi-window feature that allows you to have floating apps on your screen.

3. Set Up Smart Settings

The V20 is one of LG’s biggest Android phones. It’s an excellent choice for Android fans who want a bigger device without giving up on great features.

One of the best things about the LG V20 is that it comes with Smart Settings, a feature which is often underused on other LG smartphones but can be really useful in many ways. It lets you set your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and sound profiles to automatically change based on where you are and which apps you use the most.

It also lets you have your phone automatically launch specific apps or services when you plug in a headphones. It can be used to launch music apps like Spotify or Google Play Music, or YouTube when you plug in your earphones.

Another useful Smart Settings option is to have your V20 show your messages on a second screen when the main display is on. You can customize the options here to include a signature, quick tools, recent apps, or even a music player.

You can have these panels appear whenever the screen is on or you can toggle them off and on independently. You can also set up a schedule to have them turn on or off at a certain time of day, so they don’t become an annoying light when you’re sleeping.

You can also choose which panel to have displayed when the screen is off and which to have displayed when it’s on, and even how they are organized. These settings can be customized via the Display settings menu.

4. Make Your Speaker Sound Better

Whether you are listening to music, watching a movie or calling someone, sound is essential. You don’t want to hear your friend’s voice fade away when you call him or her, so you should make sure the speaker on your LG V20 is loud enough.

First of all, the LG V20 has a Hi-Fi Quad DAC that helps to improve audio quality. This feature can be enabled in the quick settings menu.

The Quad DAC works together with a separate audio chip and amplifier to up-sample music – both streams and old MP3s – to higher resolution. The result is much better audio with less distortion and a wider sound stage.

You can also enable a system-wide equalizer. There are 14 presets for treble, bass and vocals that can be used to customize your audio experience.

Finally, if you are an audiophile, the LG V20 comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack that supports most of the major audio formats. It also has an ESS Sabre DAC which can handle up to 32-bit audio and support for DSD, MQA and ALAC files.

The quad DAC system is a big part of what makes the V20 stand out from other smartphones. It is a nifty little feature that is not available on most phones and it really does add an extra layer of audio quality to the experience.

5. Take a Screen Shot

The LG V20 is an Android smartphone with a lot of useful features. One of the most important ones is the ability to take a screen shot. This will help you save a Whatsapp message, Tinder message or any other image or video that you see on the display of your phone.

In order to take a screenshot on your LG V20, you need to press the Power Button and Volume Down button simultaneously. If you press both buttons at the same time, your device will flash for a moment and then the screenshot will be saved in the Gallery of your device.

Taking a screenshot is very easy on the V20, but it does require a little bit of patience. Basically, you need to press the Power Button simultaneously with the Volume Down button and hold it for 2 seconds before you can get a screen shot.

Once the capture is saved in the gallery, you can easily crop it and then share it to Facebook or any other social media. You can also edit it and trim it if you want to.

Another useful feature on the V20 is its secondary screen. It lets you show your 5 most recent apps and has some additional options as well. You can even set shortcuts to media controls and a few more apps as well.

But before you can make use of the secondary screen, you need to customize it and tweak its settings. This will take a few minutes and will pay off in the long run.

In the meantime, you can also add two actions to your navigation buttons by double-pressing the volume up and down buttons when your phone is locked. The buttons are automatically linked to Capture+ and the camera, but you can disable this if you don’t want them to be pressed when you unlock your phone.
